Pilates
Pilates in Kent
Today millions of people with all levels of fitness practice Pilates, which is a gentle, safe, medically-approved controlled exercise that avoids the risk of injury. It can help to reshape your body which will become leaner and more toned, your posture will improve and you will learn to relax and release unwanted stress and tension.
Slow, precise movements are combined with controlled breathing and exercises which can be targeted to specific problem areas you might have. ‘Core stability’ are words you will hear very often as Pilates works on the development of a strong and flexible body.
Pilates is recognised to significantly help a wide range of conditions from back pain and aching joints to RSI and in simply transforming a body to a makeover.
All teachers at The Partnership are graduates of the Body Control Pilates Association (www.bodycontrol.co.uk) and have undertaken lengthy and vigorous training in order to complete their professional development. We work to a strict code of teaching standards and professional ethics.
"In 10 sessions you will feel the difference, in 20 you will see the difference and in 30 you will have a whole new body" – Joseph Pilates.
The History of Pilates
Pilates is pronounced ‘pi-lah-tes’ and was developed by the German Joseph Pilates (1880 -1967) who pioneered an unique series of exercises and corrective techniques, originally developed for dancers to improve their posture, strength and muscular balance.
Beginners – Level One
Level One comprises two one-hour sessions with an instructor which are held on a one-to-one basis. These introduce the principles of Pilates and assess your ability to move.
After completing Level One you have a number of choices to suit you.

- Studio sessions, where you work under the direction of a teacher with individual workouts which allow safe and effective progression of your individual programme.
